“When engineering a session I try to avoid using any compression or equalization. It’s important for an engineer to get good recording levels with the best natural sound possible. Instead of reaching for the EQ section, it’s a good idea to reconsider the microphone and its placement. Then, during the mix session, the engineer has a clean session with good levels to start with.”
